Gabor Medal
Royal Society of London - United Kingdom
Description of the prize :
The award is made biennially (in odd years), and is normally awarded for acknowledged distinction of work in the life sciences, particularly in the fields of genetic engineering and molecular biology. However, in line with the donor's wish, the work rewarded may, from time to time, relate to a branch of science to the progress of which Professor Dennis Gabor FRS, had himself contributed.
Recipients :
The Gabor Medal was awarded in 2003, to Professor Jean Beggs FRS, for her contributions to the isolation and manipulation of recombinant DNA molecules in a eukaryotic organism, adding a new dimension to molecular and cellular biology.
